Mission Statement

From the beginning, the mission of Chechessee Creek Club has been to build a traditional, old-style club that would celebrate the game of golf, and honor its rich heritage. In addition, Chechessee Creek was intended to be a place that its members would cherish as a haven—a place where they could go to get away from the demands of daily life—a place that would lift their spirits and invigorate their bodies and minds.

The ambience and character of the Chechessee Creek golf course was inspired by its beautiful Carolina Lowcountry setting, and architects Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore took full advantage of the magnificent forests of tall pines and ancient live oaks, as well as the tidal marshlands and creeks of the Chechessee River. The classical, strategic-style design is in keeping with the goal of creating a traditional, old-fashioned club.

In the spirit of America’s great private clubs, Chechessee Creek adopted a by-invitation-only membership policy. The policy is founded on the belief that it is the members that create the true character and spirit of the club. Our goal has been to build a warm club, filled with a spirit of camaraderie, where friends, both old and new, would enjoy this greatest of pastimes. The Chechessee membership consists of golfers from top clubs in the Hilton Head area and across the U.S. who share a love and passion for the game.

In short, the commitment of Chechessee Creek Club is to establish one of the finest private clubs in America that constantly offers a golf experience for our members and their guests that is second to none.
